Environmental Health Crisis Simulation

You are a member of the public health department when a crisis occurs.

Public health has already laid the groundwork of preparing the public for emergencies through preparedness campaigns. You have been designated as a member of the Emergency Risk Communication Team, helping with its risk communication response.

Your team’s objectives are to:

  • Show a caring, compassionate, and competent response
  • Disperse credible and consistent information rapidly
  • Promote key messages as needed
  • Set reasonable public expectations
  • Emphasize the need to comply with public health measures

In this simulation you will have a chance to practice answering questions from the media and the public, developing and delivering messages, and identifying communication channels.
