Mark Oberle is a Principal Investigator for the Northwest Preparedness and Emergency Response Research Center, housed at NWCPHP.

Mark was the first Director of NWCPHP when it opened in 1990. He currently serves as Professor Emeritus in the Departments of Health Services, Epidemiology, and Global Health. Mark has worked in domestic and international public health projects with multiple disciplines including epidemiology. He has worked on public health projects with four tribes in Washington and three Alaska Native villages. In addition, he has worked with many of the local public health jurisdictions in Washington State and served two years as Acting State Epidemiologist with the Washington Department of Health.
