Jeff Duchin works with NWCPHP as a collaborator, consultant, and lecturer for many trainings and activities in the areas of emergency preparedness, communicable disease, and immunization.

Areas of Expertise

  • Medical epidemiology, infectious disease, and applied public health practice
  • Immunization practice, vaccine-preventable diseases
  • Surveillance systems
  • Respiratory infections
  • Preparedness and response for large scale health emergencies

Jeff’s peer reviewed publications and research interests focus on communicable diseases of public health significance. He has authored text book chapters on the epidemiology of HIV/AIDS, bioterrorism, and outbreak investigations.

He is currently the Health Officer of Public Health - Seattle & King County. He is also Professor in Medicine in the Division of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, University of Washington and Adjunct Professor in the School of Public Health.

Jeff is a member of the Institute of Medicine’s Forum on Microbial Threats and the Forum on Medical and Public Health Preparedness for Catastrophic Events. He is a current member of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices. He is a Fellow of the Infectious Disease Society of America and of the American College of Physicians; a member of the IDSA’s Pandemic Influenza Task Force; and is past-Chair of the IDSA’s Bioemergencies Task Force.
