Public health workers routinely deliver reports, outcomes, and updates using slide presentations. The challenge is making presentations that are useful and appreciated by their audiences. To this end, NWCPHP is bringing back its video series designed to help presenters improve their slide presentations.

Because of their ease of use and availability, slide presentations remain among the most widely used tools for public health workers to deliver their message and educate their audiences.

When used properly, visual aids, such as PowerPoint slides, can significantly enhance a presentation. But when used incorrectly, visuals can just as easily detract from a speaker's message.

In NWCPHP's 2016 training needs survey, 49 percent of public health practitioners surveyed rated creating effective visual aids for presentations as either a "high" or "moderate" training need.

NWCPHP's short educational videos on effective slide design cover topics such as finding and using images, presenting data, using layout and grids, and choosing a font and color scheme. The videos are targeted to NWCPHP Hot Topics in Practice presenters, but are useful to a wide range of presenters.
