The current supplemental issue of the Journal of Public Health Management and Practice features NWCPHP’s work developing and evaluating innovative trainings for public health preparedness.

NWCPHP has played an important role in advancing the field of training for public health preparedness as one of the 14 centers in the Preparedness and Emergency Response Learning Center (PERLC) network. Launched in 2010, the PERLC network was established to link public health academia and practice, thereby allowing the two sectors to mutually benefit from each one's expertise.

The October/September 2014 supplemental issue of the Journal of Public Health Management and Practice highlights several key accomplishments of the PERLC network, including the contributions of NWCPHP. Faculty member, Susan Allan, MD, MPH served as the guest editor for the issue.

“The supplement was produced in large part to raise awareness of the innovative methods and training programs that have been developed so that these achievements can be extended more broadly to stimulate additional innovations and programs for preparedness training,” said Allan.
