February 12, 2015

Are passionate about public health and eager to teach the next generation of practitioners?

NWCPHP, in partnership with the University of Washington Community-Oriented Public Health Practice (COPHP) program, is hiring for one or two part-time Senior Lecturers or part-time Assistant Professors to teach in interdisciplinary, team-taught programs at graduate (and perhaps undergraduate) levels.

The successful candidate will have an advanced degree and experience in public health practice, community building, community organizing, and social justice work in pursuit of population health. The hiring committee is particularly interested in candidates who have research and/or practice portfolios in one or more of these areas, and are eager to engage students in those projects.

Teaching opportunities will cross departmental and programmatic lines. Teaching opportunities include:

  1. Community-Oriented Public Health Practice (COPHP), a problem-based learning MPH degree program in the Department of Health Services. The successful candidate could also be considered for associate directorship of the program. (25%)
  2. Northwest Center for Public Health Practice (NWCPHP), which provides training, research, evaluation, and communications services to support public health organizations. Content areas for teaching include leadership and community organizing in both course and institute settings, mentoring students and professionals, moderating webinars, and conducting outreach to public health practitioners across the Northwest. (25%)
  3. Other teaching opportunities. There may be additional teaching, research, or program opportunities in the University of Washington School of Social Work, other School of Public Health MPH programs, and the School’s undergraduate program. These would depend on the unique characteristics of the applicant.

This is a 50% FTE position, with the expectation that the successful candidate can support the remainder of a full-time position with successful grant writing or secondary employment with a relevant professional position in Seattle.

For the full job description, including information about job responsibilities and how to apply, visit the University of Washington website. Review of applications will begin on March 1, 2015.
