August 2, 2011

On August 3 and 4, the Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board (NPAIHB) will host its 8th annual Native Fitness Event. In this specialized training, participants will learn how to teach fitness classes for Native American communities that use creative, culturally-specific approaches.

Conference organizers welcome tribal fitness leaders, community wellness leaders, diabetes coordinators, and other interested individuals to attend. Certified trainers from the Native American Fitness Council will conduct the breakout training sessions at this interactive, movement-oriented event. Mr. Darryl Tonemah, Behavior Change Specialist in Diabetes Prevention at NPAIHB, will be the guest speaker.

The Native Fitness Event will be held at the Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon. Additional information is available on NPAIHB's website.
