In 2011, Kitsap County Health District in Washington State contracted with NWCPHP to conduct a comprehensive performance evaluation on the district’s Local Health Officer. While this evaluation project yielded results that were specific to Kitsap County Health District, it also created an adaptable template that any local health organization can use.

Recently, Luann D’Ambrosio, MEd, Associate Director of NWCPHP and NWCPHP research assistant, Claire Rainey, MPHc, conducted a poster session at the annual meeting of the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO).

Visitors who viewed the poster commented positively on the comprehensive approach of gaining feedback from a broad audience of stakeholders to measure performance. According to D’Ambrosio, this approach provides much more targeted feedback than what is often gained from a 360 assessment.

The templates are available on NWCPHP's Evaluation Tools & Resources page.

In another session at the NACCHO meeting, D’Ambrosio, Rainey, and a colleague from the Washington State Department of Health, Cindy Gleason, BS, presented an emergency preparedness training needs assessment template that any state, local, or tribal public health agency is welcome to use.
