Business plan: A tool for analyzing and planning a new product or service that will meet a critical community need, will generate revenue, and be sustainable past the first few years of effort.

MAPP: A NACCHO-sponsored process to assess community needs.

P

Profit: Revenue that exceeds costs and that accrues to the benefit of someone (an owner or an investor).

R

Revenue: Money taken in for goods or services rendered (not a grant).

S

Sustainability: Ability of a business or project to last; ability to generate sufficient revenue to cover expenses in the long term (3 to 5 years).
