Participants network with fellow scholars during lunch.
Interact, engage, connect as a participant in the 17th annual Summer Institute for Public Health Practice, August 11-15, 2008. Experience the excellent instruction by nationally recognized faculty—the hallmark of the Institute and its sponsor, the Northwest Center for Public Health Practice at the University of Washington School of Public Health and Community Medicine.
Network with other scholars who bring knowledge and experience from many perspectives, including epidemiology, communications, emergency preparedness, environmental health, program planning, evaluation, program management, leadership, and other public health disciplines.
In morning plenary sessions, experts will present their best thinking on climate change, built environment, and communicable disease. In your course, you will learn methods, tools, and best practices in public health. At the end of each day, the entire Institute will reconvene to share what was discussed and learned. This comprehensive format will result in an understanding of the complexities, subtleties, and challenges that are public health practice.
The Institute will culminate in a summit with public health leaders from states, tribes, and communities for an integrative discussion of the plenary presentations, courses, and learning. By week's end, you will be better prepared to face the challenges of the 21st century.
