The Art of Dialogue

SI Icon

Engage the community— learn to listen in a way that people will speak—rather than just speaking so people will listen.

The Art of Dialogue is for current and aspiring public health leaders interested in community mobilization and policy development. Learn practical dialogue skills to address complex issues and understand the context, stakeholders, and analytical framework for real-world policy development.

Danny Martin, Jack Thompson, Paul Wiesner

Objectives

  1. Learn practical skills of dialogue for creative thinking to address complex issues.
  2. Understand the context, stakeholders and the analytical framework for real-world policy development.
  3. Learn an approach to applying dialogue skills in community mobilization for policy development.
  4. List 3-5 concepts used in the art of dialogue that could influence responses to global climate change, new built environments, and communicable disease issues and describe the possible nature of those effects.
