Northwest Public Health Leadership Institute
2012–13 Public Health Leadership Institute Kicks Off August 7–9
NWCPHP’s Public Health Leadership Institute is an nine-month program designed to train the next generation of public health leaders in the Northwest. The next cohort runs from August 2012 to April 2013.
Our problem-based learning model uses real-world case studies to teach the complexities of public health leadership. The program will improve your ability to:
- Align organizational practices with the larger social, political, and economic environment
- Leverage interrelationships and structures for public health program management
- Evaluate systems and prepare them for change
- Explore new partnerships through public democratic participative processes
- Measure the success of implementing new programs
Institute scholars enhance their leadership abilities through:
- Creation of an individualized leadership plan, based on personal assessments and professional coaching
- The development and execution of an individual leadership project at the scholar's workplace or organization
- Three intensive, on-site sessions scheduled throughout the year with scholars from Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington and Wyoming
- Monthly webinars, online discussions, and other distance- and problem-based learning exercises
