About Hot Topics in Preparedness

HTIPstates.gif

These monthly events sponsored by the Northwest Center for Public Health Practice provide an authoritative hour-long forum for discussing topics that are important to the public health practice community in the six states in our region (Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, Wyoming) and the tribal health units (coordinated through the Northwest Portland Area Indian Health Board).

The Hot Topics Forum Leader is Dr. Paul Wiesner, who has had a diverse career at all levels of governmental public health (local, state and national), including the CDC and the DeKalb County (Georgia) Health Department. An Advisory Committee with representatives from our partner organizations works with Dr. Wiesner to select topics and guide the development of this forum. Support is provided through a cooperative agreement from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) through the Association of Schools of Public Health (ASPH).

We use a combination of iLinc web conferencing and teleconferencing to reach public health professionals across the Northwest region. More information about iLinc web conferencing and information on preparing your computer is available.

Each live web event is limited to 55 computer connections across the Northwest region. We encourage participation by groups in the same work site. If you are the facilitator for a group participation site, please see our iLinc training resources.
