A New Public Health for the 21st Century
Description
This presentation will cover the national trend toward public health performance and quality improvement initiatives, including the recent accreditation efforts. The relationship between health reform and public health transitions will be included. Thought-provoking observations about the future of public health will also be provided.

Presenters
Kaye Bender, PhD, RN, FAAN is President and CEO of the Public Health Accreditation Board since January 2009. She has over 25 years experience in local and state public health and served for 6 years as Dean of the University of MS School of Nursing. She is active in national public health organizations and is a Fellow in the American Academy of Nursing.
Patrick M. Libbey, BA is working as a consultant in public health systems and organizational issues including current work for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation examining regionalization of local public health systems and services. Starting in 2002, he served for six years as the Executive Director of the National Association of County and City Health Officials (NACCHO). Prior to his time at NACCHO, Mr. Libbey was a local health official for over 25 years in Washington State. He has served in a wide range of leadership positions in the public health field at the local, state and national levels. He currently serves on the Boards of Directors for the Nurse Family Partnership and Public Health Enterprises, Inc.
