Emergency Management Planning: New York Style

Friday, September 29, 2006; 12:00–1:00 pm (PST)

Description

This online, interactive session will provide an overview of what we have learned from previous disasters (natural and terrorism) and how these lessons can inform our emergency management planning. The presenter will discuss the emergency planning process employed in New York City (NYC) to develop plans that are operationally oriented. This will include how to organize plans by roles, actions, and tasks. The presentation will also include ideas on how to involve stakeholders in the planning. Several case studies from NYC will be reviewed.
