Description

Preparing for and Responding to Bioterrorism: Information for the Public Health Workforce emphasizes the application of skills and knowledge to the public health worker's role in preparedness and response. Modules include information about the smallpox vaccine and preventative measures for other biological agents.

These materials can be used for self-paced study or by those wanting to train others in issues pertinent to preparing for and responding to bioterrorism and other public health emergencies.

Objectives

By the end of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Define bioterrorism
  • List epidemiologic clues that suggest a deliberate, as opposed to spontaneous, source of disease
  • Describe his or her potential role(s) in responding to a public health emergency
  • Describe the general characteristics of and appropriate infection control measures for potential agents of biological terrorism: anthrax, smallpox, plague, botulism, tularemia, and viral hemorrhagic fevers
