Public Health Training Plan Development and Implementation
The Center provides technical assistance and resources to our Northwest public health partners for the development and implementation of public health training plans. The training plans, typically agency-wide, focus on the curriculum level. Many of these efforts emphasize preparedness and emergency response skills, but most training plans also include development of core public health skills. We have used our Emergency Preparedness Training Needs Assessment instrument to define key areas of training needs for these plans.
In 2003, the Center assisted in the development of a training plan template for Thurston County (Washington) Health Department as part of the health department's work as a Project Public Health Ready pilot site. The training plan template and sample appendices are resources for identifying key components of an effective training plan.
