Community Advisory Board
NWCPHP's research mission is to provide the practice community with empirically-based tools for effective public health systems. Keeping our research agenda relevant and our findings accessible to public health practice is key. It is here that our Community Advisory Board (CAB), made up of public health leaders from state, local and tribal organizations in our six-state region, plays a vital role. The board helps ensure that the research projects undertaken by NWCPHP address critical public health practice questions. The CAB also ensures that the answers to these questions are disseminated effectively for immediate use by the practice community.
A few current questions being addressed by NWCPHP research include: How can emergency call centers communicate more effectively with limited English proficient callers? (LEP 911) What health alert methods are most effective for reaching health care providers? (REACH) How can texting be used effectively for emergency preparedness communication and surveillance? (Text Messaging) Answers to such questions will allow health departments and organizations to spend emergency preparedness resources more effectively and to improve the ability to communicate during an emergency.
