National Public Health Week
National Public Health Week:
April 5-11, 2010
Each year, the first full week of April celebrates public health's contributions to communities across the country.
Organized by the American Public Health Association, each year's theme aims to reach the public, policy-makers, and practitioners with important information.
This year's theme is "A Healthier America: One Community at a Time." The theme is important because it serves as a reminder that each individual and each organization can make a difference to make the US "a place where everyone has access to health care and services, and where we're celebrated for embracing healthy lifestyles, and our communities and neighborhoods make it easy for us to make healthy choices."
National Public Health Week's Web site, www.nphw.org, allows visitors to share personal stories about how he/she has encouraged others to promote health. Many health departments in the region actively participate in National Public Health Week. We encourage you to visit their Web sites for more information.
