Jack Thompson Joins Board of WSPHA
February 13, 2012
Jack Thompson, current faculty member and former director of NWCPHP, recently joined the Board of Directors of the Washington State Public Health Association (WSPHA). Thompson was appointed to fill a vacancy and will serve until October 2012.
As part of his board activities, Thompson sits on WSPHA’s professional development committee. This role is a natural fit, given Thompson’s close connection to the training activities of NWCPHP, as well as his involvement in the graduate and undergraduate programs in the University of Washington School of Public Health.
The professional development committee will oversee the planning of the Washington Joint Conference on Health. The committee will also assist in coordinating the monthly webinars that WSPHA sponsors and will help plan new initiatives aimed at providing leadership training and enrichment to WSPHA members.
Thompson expressed his satisfaction in working on initiatives that are so compatible with the mission of the NWCPHP. “I am happy to be on the board and to represent the School of Public Health.” Thompson adds, “There is strong leadership on the board as well as good representation of our state. I am glad to be part of efforts to support the professional development of the public health community in Washington.”
