The 2010 Public Health Nursing Conference brings the opportunity to gather once again in Anchorage and share stories and successes. This year’s theme, “Promoting the Public’s Health: Partnerships for Prevention” emphasizes the ongoing commitment of the public health nursing workforce to the total health of our communities. The sessions will highlight inspiring speakers and best practices in Wellness, Community Engagement and Evidence Based Strategies.

Conference participants will have the opportunity to hear from local, state and national leaders. Betty Bekemeier, MSN, MPH, RN; Joy Reed, EdD, RN; and Kay Bender, RN, PhD, FAAN, have all be instrumental in community engagement strategies and bringing life to the ANA Scope and Standards for PHNs. Dr. Stephanie Bailey, Chief of the Office of Public Health Practice at the CDC will address community assessment and community engagement. Linda Chamberlain, PhD, will provide an update on Intimate Partner Violence findings and practices, as well as inspire us to embrace our leadership roles.
