NWCPHP Mission
The Northwest Center for Public Health Practice (NWCPHP) promotes excellence in public health by linking academia and the practice community. As part of the University of Washington School of Public Health, NWCPHP provides training, research, and evaluation for state, local, and tribal public health in six Pacific Northwest states—Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming.

The February HTIP session will be on Tuesday, February 21 from 12:00–1:00 PM Pacific.
The spring 2012 RNSC meeting will be held March 20–21 at the Hotel Deca in Seattle, WA.
Jack
Thompson, current faculty member and former director of NWCPHP,
recently joined the Board of Directors of the Washington State Public
Health Association (WSPHA). Thompson was appointed to fill a vacancy and will serve until October 2012.
In Kansas, reduction of resources has meant significant cuts to workforce training. Using TRAIN, the Kansas Department of Health and the Environment discovered NWCPHP's online modules that are offered free of charge.
As part of the Seattle Healthy Places Research Group Forum, on Wednesday, February 8, 2012, David A. Goldberg will speak about the new federal transportation bill and what it means for people's health. His talk will be held in the UW Health Sciences Center, Room H-670.
In the past, tribal populations in the Northwest were devastated by pandemics. To ensure that this loss of life does not happen again, Northwest tribes have formed important partnerships so that they will be ready to protect their communities from public health threats.
