NWCPHP has new leadership

Sep 16, 2008. On July 15, 2008, Jack Thompson, MSW stepped down as director of the Northwest Center for Public Health Practice. Under his leadership for the past eight years, NWCPHP has become a vital resource to state and local health departments in the six-state region that the Center serves. Susan Allan, MD, JD, MPH has taken over as director of the Center.

Aug 28, 2008. Faculty and staff at the Northwest Center for Public Health Practice have published a paper in the Journal of Public Health Management and Practice entitled, "Assessing Regional Public Health Preparedness: A New Tool for Considering Cross-Border Issues."

Northwest Public Health journal moves

Aug 06, 2008. In July there were several significant changes for the UW's journal Northwest Public Health, the only journal from any school of public health that focuses on public health practice. The responsibility for the journal has been moved to the Northwest Center for Public Health Practice, where it will be even more connected with the network of linkages between regional public health practitioners and the UW School of Public Health and Community Medicine.

Preparedness workbook for health care providers published by NWCPHP and PHSKC

May 23, 2008. NWCPHP collaborated with Public Health - Seattle & King County to design a user-friendly online workbook, Business Resiliency for Health Care Providers. This valuable resource is free and helps non-hospital health care providers, such as nursing homes and mental health clinics, plan for emergencies so they can continue to provide services during disasters.
