Roundtable on the Promotion of Health Equity and Elimination of Health Disparities will meet on Wednesday, November 14 at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Seattle. The workshop, "Leveraging Culture to Address Health Inequalities: Examples from Native Communities," will focus on Native American health and how culture plays a part in addressing health inequalities.

The workshop will offer training in cultural competence. There will also be discussion on how to weave culture into the clinical setting and actions in cancer and diabetes prevention in Native communities.

The Roundtable on the Promotion of Health Equity and Elimination of Health disparities was created to discuss issues related to: the visibility of racial and ethnic disparities in health and health care as a national problem; the development of programs and strategies to reduce disparities; and the emergence of new leadership.
