Early registration is now open for the 2012–2013 Public Health Management Certificate program and applications received by Friday, June 1, 2012 receive $500 off the regular registration rate. This year-long program is designed for public health professionals who are in a management position or preparing to make a transition into management in state, local, and tribal public health agencies.

The Public Health Management Certificate enables public health practitioners to be more effective with current resources and increase their ability to bring in additional resources. The Public Health Management Certificate is based on evidence demonstrating that better management means stronger public health services and healthier communities.

Participants take a 360° self-assessment and join one informational webinar in July before kicking off the program with an in-person session August 20–23 in Seattle, WA. This in-person training introduces key concepts and allows teams to build strong relationships before spending the next 11 months learning and participating through online courses, webinars, and distance-based discussions. Scholars must also propose and complete an integrated project, which applies management skills directly to their current work environment.

NWCPHP faculty and staff have created an exciting 12-month learning experience designed to meet the needs of working professionals. The program is taught primarily through distance-based methods, both synchronous and asynchronous, to best fit a busy professional's schedule. However, scholars must expect to spend approximately 2–4 hours per week for course preparation and 2–3 hours per week in distance-based small or large group sessions to spend adequate time with the concepts. A certificate of completion will be provided based on satisfactory completion of all the core courses and a specified number of electives.
