On June 12–14, 2011, AcademyHealth held its Annual Research Meeting in Seattle. The Annual Research Meeting is a leading forum for health services research. More than 2,400 researchers attended this year.

During the Annual Research Meeting, two presentations were given about the Rapid Emergency Alerting Communications in Health project (REACH). REACH is a project that is investigating alert communications between public health and health care providers during emergency preparedness and response situations.

Janet Baseman, Principal Investigator of the REACH project and NWCPHP faculty member, presented a poster about the project. Debra Revere, REACH Research Coordinator, gave a presentation about REACH at the Public Health Systems Research Interest Group that was convened during the Annual Research Meeting. Revere was also invited to discuss public health systems and services research activities at the session called “NLM Update: Health Services Research and Public Health Resources."

REACH is a project within the Preparedness and Emergency Response Research Centers program that is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
