Conferences are an important training and networking opportunity for professionals at any stage of their career. A well-run event facilitates learning in participants; a poorly planned one can distract from the conference’s larger goals.

For those behind the scenes—the conference organizers—the implementation of an event is the culmination of months of preparation, detailed planning, and hard work. Whether new to conference planning or a conference planning pro, NWCPHP’s new toolkit, Effective Conferences: A Toolkit for Planning an Event, provides practical tools to help you develop, implement, and evaluate your own conference.

Topics covered include: defining conference objectives, establishing a conference planning committee, developing an agenda, choosing session topics, and designating speakers and facilitators. You’ll also learn how to find a venue, organize staff and materials, and publicize and evaluate your event.

The toolkit content is derived from NWCPHP’s workshop guide and evaluation of the Pacific NorthWest Border Health Alliance’s Cross Border Workshop.
