The July public health professional profile in the University of Washington School of Public Health's "Close Up" features NWCPHP Director, Tao Kwan-Gett. The interview explores how Kwan-Gett and his wife wound up working with Burmese refugees on the Burma-Thai border and how Kwan-Gett became interested in working in public health. Kwan-Gett also discusses some of the new directions he sees for NWCPHP.

"I went to medical school wanting to be a heart surgeon and wanting to do artificial heart research," Kwan-Gett says during the interview. "The fact I'm doing public health just shows how different your life journey can be from where you thought it would be when you started."
