Leslie Breitner, DBA will be one of the faculty members to teach in the upcoming Public Health Management Certificate (PHMC) program. Breitner is a Faculty Lecturer in the Desautels Faculty of Management at McGill University, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.

Dr. Breitner recently joined the Desautels Faculty of Management where she is a module director for the International Masters Program in Practicing Management and the International Masters for Health Leadership.

Before joining McGill, Breitner was a Principal Lecturer of Public Affairs at the University of Washington. She taught core budgeting, performance management, and nonprofit financial management. Breitner also served as the faculty director for Cascade Executive Programs and was faculty co-director of the Executive Master of Public Administration program. Prior to joining the University of Washington, she taught graduate level financial management and public sector budgeting courses at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government.

An experienced teacher in distance learning pedagogy, Breitner developed online financial management curricula for both the Kennedy School and Seton Hall University. She has also taught and consulted with a variety of medical schools, teaching hospitals, foundations, and nonprofit organizations.

When asked about Breitner's contribution to the PHMC, Janell Blackmer, PHMC coordinator said, "Leslie is a prime example of the high-caliber faculty that we want involved with the Public Health Management Certificate program. We are thrilled to have her leading the Managing Money domain."

Breitner is co-author with the late Robert N. Anthony of the popular accounting books Essentials of Accounting and Essentials of Accounting Review, both revised in 2010. Breitner holds a DBA (doctorate in business administration) from Boston University’s Graduate School of Management.
