NWCPHP was saddened to hear of the passing of Jesse Washington Tapp, Jr. on August 5, 2011. Tapp was the director of NWCPHP in 1991. He wrote a piece for NWCPHP's 20th anniversary celebration last year that gave important details about NWCPHP's early days.

Tapp passed away at Swedish Medical Center in Seattle, Washington. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Marie, and his five daughters. His obituary states that, "In lieu of flowers, please extend an act of kindness to a neighbor, friend, or stranger."
