January 13, 2014

The implementation of the Affordable Care Act has prompted exciting changes to public health and health care throughout the Northwest. In the January and February Hot Topics, public health leaders from around the region will discuss the legislation’s impacts in their states during a special two-part webinar series.

In the January session, representatives from Oregon will share their experience with the State Innovation Model grant, including the innovations being tested and the challenges being overcome. Presenters will focus on models for integrating population health within a health care delivery system to achieve the “triple aim” of improving population health, improving the patient experience, and reducing health care costs.

The February session will be a forum for public health leaders from other Northwest states to compare and contrast their approaches to health care reform and answer questions from the region. Discussion topics will include how the political climate affects their agency’s work, the role their agency plays in connecting health care with public health, and what innovations are being tried in each state.

Register today to hear from regional public health leaders and ask your questions about health care reform in the Northwest.
