Public health practitioners can now connect with NWCPHP via a new LinkedIn company page.

Since NWCPHP's inception over 20 years ago, the ways we communicate and do business have changed drastically. Communities, individuals, and organizations are increasingly turning to online channels to connect, collaborate, and exchange information.

In early 2013, NWCPHP surveyed public health practitioners from Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming, as part of a regional training needs assessment. Fifty-six percent of respondents said using social media would be important to their work in the coming years.

To meet this growing need among our practice and academic partners, NWCPHP began a Facebook page in 2010 and is following up on that effort with a LinkedIn company page, which went live in September 2013.

"With health care reform, there's a need for more connections and collaborations between public health and other disciplines," explains NWCPHP Director Tao Kwan-Gett, MD, MPH. "This new NWCPHP LinkedIn page will provide another way for our practice partners to connect with us and the broader population health community. In the future, we hope to use this as a platform to share practical tips and tools of the trade, promote new trainings, and celebrate public health successes."
