Health care reform is a hot topic for public health and clinical professionals alike, particularly how health systems can better address the social determinants of health and equity. On August 1, 2016, NWCPHP’s Summer Institute kicks off with a plenary session on this pressing issue. The 90-minute panel will feature leaders from Washington State for a discussion on how new Accountable Communities of Health are transforming prevention systems through multi-sector stakeholder groups.

During the session, scholars in NWCPHP’s Public Health Management Certificate, Leadership Institute, and Summer Institute will come together to learn why health care transformation needs many partners, lessons for collaboration and collective impact, and how to support health equity. Scholars will also hear panel members discuss challenges and successes in rural health service delivery, strategies for promoting community interests, and financing models.

“The session is a unique opportunity for professionals from public health, health care, community-based organizations, and managed care to learn from one another before separating into their different learning tracks and programs,” said Barbara Rose, NWCPHP Institute Coordinator. “We’re excited to bring these groups together in this way.”

The plenary session takes place in the University of Washington’s South Campus Center, Room 316, from 8:30–10:00 a.m. It is open to the public at no charge.
