Required Coursework (6 credits total)
Students are required to take a total of 3 credits from the following courses:
- UCONJ 445 Bioterrorism Awareness for Health Professionals, (1), C/NC
- UCONJ 446 Bioterrorism and Preparedness for Health Professionals, (2), C/NC
And at least one course from the following list of required electives (3 credits):
- EPI 526: Epidemiology of Diseases Communicable from Nature (3), Graded
- PABIO 550: Diseases of Public Health Importance and Strategies for Their Control (3), Graded
- NURS 568: Health Policy and Politics (3), C/NC
- ENVH 543: Quantitative Microbial Risk Assessment (3), Graded
The required elective is an opportunity for students to choose a course that is most relevant to their discipline and interests. However, please note that courses required for the student’s degree may not count toward the certificate. Courses required by a student's specific track may count toward the certificate.
Elective Coursework (6–7 credits)
Students are required to take a minimum of 6–7 elective credits. The following courses may be taken for elective credit.

* Students are encouraged to take at least one Epidemiology course. However, students in programs for which Epidemiology 511 or 512/513 is a degree requirement cannot count these course credits towards the Certificate Program.
† EPI 512 (4 credits, Fall Quarter) must be taken in sequence with EPI 513 (4 credits, Winter Quarter). However, only EPI 512 (4 credits) may count toward the Certificate.
It is the student’s ultimate responsibility to ensure that they are taking a class for a grade or for credit/no credit.

- Students may petition to request that additional classes not listed here count as elective courses.
