Joana Cunha-Cruz is Associate Director for Strategic Partnerships. She is responsible for building and maintaining collaborative partnerships among key stakeholders on a local, regional, and national level, generating opportunities to help advance prevention systems in the region, leading and writing grants, and providing oversight to other key activities at NWCPHP.

In addition to her work at NWCPHP, Joana is a Research Associate Professor in the School of Dentistry, and Adjunct Research Associate Professor in the Department of Health Services in the School of Public Health, both at the University of Washington. She is a dentist and epidemiologist with more than 10 years of research and teaching experience involving evidence-based methods, regional practice-based research networks, community-based research, and quality improvement projects.

Joana received her Doctor of Dental Surgery from the State University of Pernambuco, and holds a Master and PhD degree in Public Health – Epidemiology from the State University of Rio de Janeiro. She has been a member of the American Association of Dental Research since 2006, and received the International Association of Dental Research Evidence Based Dentistry Network Prize in 2005.
