July 2010

Promoting excellence in public health practice for 20 years.
then...
On July 1, 1990 a center opened in a leaky basement office at the University of Washington School of Public Health. It was the Northwest Center for Public Health Practice, and its initial activity was to convene the first Summer Institute for Public Health Practice.
During the 1990s, NWCPHP primarily provided trainings in Washington State. In 2000, NWCPHP was one of two sites in the country to receive CDC/ASPH and HRSA funding. Greatly broadening the scope of its activities, NWCPHP began to forge strong connections with partners throughout the region.

NWCPHP provides training, research, and evaluation for state, local, and tribal public health in six Northwest states - Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, Washington, and Wyoming.
